saunter lit & art journal is the literary arts publication showcasing writing, art, and digital media created by students at John Muir High School in Pasadena, California. saunter continues the Muir literary lineage of Wild Horses, published from 2013 to 2018, as well as Inner Eye, last published in 2002. This online and print student publication presents its inaugural edition in the 2023-2024 school year with fall and spring editions online. The saunter online publication is created with the Wix digital tool using Kodchasan and Geotica Four Open fonts with blue #0A2758 and gold #FAFDC9 representing our school colors. The saunter logo features a mustang, the school mascot, between two pines with ink flowing from a fountain pen as a nod to John Muir, author, free spirit, wilderness advocate, and environmental activist. saunter borrows Muir's words and embraces the motto: "between every two pine trees is a door leading to a new way of life."

This online publication of saunter lit & art journal is made possible through the 2023-2024 & 2024-2025 Pasadena Educational Foundation (PEF) Teacher Grant program which funded the website and print edition as well as instructional materials for the classroom.
